1. Purpose
One dashboard shows the two sides of financial support to WikiDeal:
- Subscriptions (donor view): how much I gave, how much I can still give, and what a new subscription could bring me according to the subscription token algorithm.
- Subscription Tokens: how much I received, and the cash transfer amount "transferable to your bank account" (direct bank transfer), which starts very low and grows as subscriptions come in.
The dashboard makes the whole mechanism transparent and verifiable (wiki culture and Ethereum culture) and pleasantly engaging: watching subscriptions arrive and your subscription token grow.
2. Three key words
A sample subscription of CHF 1'000 at ×100 with a Foundation need of 100% gives a potential subscription token of CHF 100'000 NOT GUARANTEED.
3. The subscription token algorithm
The subscription token algorithm is a fixed algorithm: it starts at ×100, ends at ×30 and distributes 50 million subscription tokens according to a mathematical formula (sample description, subject to validation). Earlier subscriptions get a higher multiplier. The ×30 floor comes from this curve: the effective multiplier never goes below ×30.
4. The Foundation need
The multiplier alone is not enough: it is balanced by the Foundation need, a percentage, fully automatic, with needs defined by the steering committee.
The dashboard shows the Foundation need as a gauge: red at full need (100%), green at partly need (below 100%). Inside the gauge sits the key figure of the system: the functioning variable, CHF 10'000/month, set at launch and adjustable.
- Full need (100%) means the outstanding requirement is not covered: the multiplier is full.
- Below 100% the need is called partly need.
- Once the outstanding requirement is covered, the Foundation need descends below 100% as the foundation provision fills.
- When the provision reaches 3 months of functioning cost, the Foundation need is 30%: the multiplier is at the ×30 floor.
Outstanding requirement = CHF 100'000 + CHF 10'000 × (months - 1) - cumulative subscriptions (never shown below CHF 0). The need stays at full need, multiplier ×100, as long as this amount is not covered; the pace of subscriptions is what brings it down.
| Foundation need | Effective multiplier (nominal ×100) |
|---|---|
| full need: 100% (month 1) | ×100 |
| partly need: 80% | ×80 |
| partly need: 60% | ×60 |
| partly need: 30% | ×30 (floor) |
Proposed formula for the descent, to be validated: Foundation need = 100% - 70% × (months of provision covered ÷ 3). The descent only starts once the outstanding requirement is covered. The provision is the last figure of the system: it drives the Foundation need.
5. The foundation provision
Half of the incoming money goes to the monthly functioning costs, half to the initial requirement. The foundation provision (target: 3 months of functioning cost) funds maintenance and development. It is not a subscription token. The foundation margin, the gap between what the subscription token algorithm promises and the subscription token actually attributed when the Foundation need is below 100% (partly need), feeds this provision.
6. When you subscribe
- Your potential subscription token appears (sample: CHF 1'000 at ×100 shows CHF 100'000).
- Then the question: "What percentage do you want to give to the foundation?" Free choice from 0% to 100% (0% is allowed).
- Four preset profiles: Donator, Cashback, Times 2, and Entrepreneur.
Sample free choice: 25% to the foundation on a CHF 100'000 subscription token = CHF 25'000 to the foundation, CHF 75'000 kept as potential subscription token.
7. Subscription Tokens
- The subscription token is a potential ceiling NOT GUARANTEED, paid only from real subscription income, with no guarantee.
- Each paid subscription (CHF 10/year or EUR 1/month) sends a small part to subscription token holders, distributed pro-rata among subscription token holders (proposed, to be validated).
- The cash transfer amount "transferable to your bank account" guaranteed starts very low and grows with every subscription paid. How to cash →
8. Public transparency
- Total raised and number of donors (funding round of CHF 1'000'000, progress bar).
- Last subscription: amount and time only, never the identity.
- Foundation margin (percentage shown big, absolute value small) and foundation provision.
- Model: Subscription Tokens funded by WikiDeal subscriptions (CHF 1/month or CHF 10/year) · 25% to donators, 25% to early supporters (one single type of Subscription Token).
9. Payment flow
- Credit card via Stripe: subscription or subscription paid by credit card.
- Foundation account, holding period: funds arrive on the WI-SUP (Wikideal Support) account with a holding period (illustrative: 7 days).
- Foundation confirms: the WI-SUP (Wikideal Support) confirms the payment and activates the promised subscription token NOT GUARANTEED. Never automatic on reception.
- Transferable to your bank account: the activated subscription token becomes progressively transferable, funded by real subscription income.
